Raza Rumi is the new editor at Daily Times

ISLAMABAD - Raza Rumi, who was with The Friday Times since 2008, is the new editor at Daily Times.

He made the switch last week taking over at a time when the paper has lost much of its editorial gloss.

That is exactly what Rumi would be focusing on. "For now my priority is to improve the editorial pages, and digitize Daily Times as a paper of the 21st century,” he told JournalismPakistan.com Tuesday.

Rumi is abroad since 2014 when he left Pakistan following an assassination attempt in which his driver was killed.

He said he would be working remotely for the next few months as he is a visiting faculty at Cornell University in the US these days.

Daily Times has undergone a rough patch since Rashed Rehman resigned in 2016.

Rumi has had stints with Capital TV and Express News as an anchor. He was a regular columnist for The Express Tribune and The News on Sunday.

During his time in the US, he has been teaching journalism at Ithaca College and public policy at Cornell University. His writings appear in leading South Asian and American publications. He is an author of three books.
