KARACHI—Syed Mohammad Askari, a senior reporter for the daily Jang, has been abducted by unknown officials in Karachi, the paper reported on Sunday.

The paper said unknown officials in plain clothes abducted the reporter from Qayyumabad Interchange. The report said Askari told the officials he is a journalist and works for Jang. However, this was enough as he was maltreated and taken away.
When one of Askari’s friends called 15, he was told to contact the relevant police station. However, when the SHO of the Zaman Town Police Station was informed about the incident said no such incident was in his knowledge.
