Tribune journo takes another step forward

ISLAMABAD: Young Zahid Gishkori of The Express Tribune is the only journalist from the private media in Pakistan to have completed this 9-month SAARC Media Fellowship 2012-13 for the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation.

His research work will be published on the SAARC website and by SAARC regional offices across South Asia.

Gishkori has sent his 78-page research paper titled “From Shadows to Realities, A Way Forward for SAARC” to SAARC Headquarters in Kathmandu through the Pakistan Foreign Office.

The proposed study aimed at freeing SAARC from the current focus on Pakistan-India rivalry. The author points out there is dire need to incentivize trade in South Asia in order to bring economic change in the region. He found SAARC to be a late bloomer with a tendency to act slowly.

Gishkori is a winner of the 2012 Canadian High Commissioner’s Award for Excellence in Pakistani Journalism. He attended a journalism course in Hamburg, Germany in July-August last year.
