Join our WhatsApp channelSAN FRANSCISCO, CA- JournalismPakistan.com is almost two-and-a-half years old. During that time it has evolved from a basic information based website to a more active one. What has really been very encouraging has been the growth of support, membership and readership from countries other than Pakistan, especially the United States.
This nugget of information was very valuable to us at JournalismPakistan.com and we decided that it needed to be explored for many reasons, including looking at the indigenous media in the United States and how it functions, what its priories are, how is a news report, whether electronic or print, built and presented and, most importantly, how can the media in Pakistan be bench-marked against that of the United States.
Then, there is a reasonable gathering of Pakistani journalists settled or working in the United States. How do they get their work done? What is their role in the grand scheme of things? What are the work practices and ethics they follow? Can journalists in Pakistan benefit from them?
… And, of course, what is the role JournalismPakistan.com can play to link these various facets into a cohesive, workable tool for journalists in Pakistan to benefit from professionally?
There were a dozen different questions going through our heads, all leading to plenty of excitement and further food for thought. Finally we decided, the opportunity was too good to miss and JP America was conceived.
JP America is going to be a regular feature of our new website and will regularly feature reports and information on the media in the United States, especially matters that either interest or could be beneficial to Pakistani journalists. Also it will be a channel for Pakistani journalists to get their views across to their American counterparts through their views and reports.
Under this new venture we will be featuring how the media works in the United States. We will be writing about Pakistani journalists in the United States and how they are progressing.
In a unique opportunity, JournalismPakistan.com will be providing Pakistani TV channels and newspapers with a ‘paid for’ resource in JP through which they can initially tap into footage and news stories on the Pakistani/Indian communities in California and especially the Silicon Valley.
In other words, TV channels and newspapers in Pakistan can get a particular event or report covered by JournalismPakistan.com staff in California.
JP America will also afford journalists and non journalists in Pakistan and the United States to feature on JP America their video reports, video programs, talk shows and mini-documentaries.
As in all such ventures, JP America can only grow through your support and participation and we are very optimistic that this will be the case.
