ISLAMABAD—The government has appointed Shahid Khokhar as the chairman of the Implementation Tribunal for Newspaper Employees, much to the relief of the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ).
PFUJ President Afzal Butt greeted journalists and media workers on this development. He thanked Information Minister Marriyam Aurangzeb for honoring her promise.
The ITNE was without a head for more than two years despite repeated calls from PFUJ and media workers to speed up the appointment.
The massive delay resulted in the pendency of hundreds of cases filed by journalists.
