PESHAWAR—In a shocking turn of events, the exposure of electricity theft at a police station led to an assault on a news team. The incident took place in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa district of Buner, where open electricity theft was ongoing at Thana Khaal, according to reports.
The team from Neo News, there to record an episode of the program "Pakistan Poochega," was attacked by police. The assault left anchor Mian Imran Arshad severely injured, with other team members also sustaining injuries during the altercation.
During the attack, the police confiscated the team's camera, memory cards, and cash. The brazen attack highlights the challenges journalists face while exposing corruption and illegal activities.
A video clip posted on social media shows one of the news team members, bleeding profusely from the head as his colleagues take him to the hospital.
